On our vacation in Siesta Key, FL, we had heard Stephen King owned a home nearby. After unsuccessfully trying to find the homes of Brian Johnson of AC/DC and Joe Perry, both who live in gated communities, we thought we would give it a try, just out of curiosity.
Casey Key is an 8 mile barrier Island that lies with the gulf on one side and the Sarasota bay on the other side. As we crossed Blackburn Point Bridge, one of only 2 swing bridges to remain in the US, we were filled with excitement as to what lay ahead. We took a right down N Casey Key Rd, the part where King's house is located, the far north of the island. As we traveled down this seemingly one lane, isolated road, it was almost like stepping back in time, with pines, oaks, Spanish moss , palms, and various other tropical vegetation. Driving along with the beach immediately to our left was absolutely breathtaking. The beaches were practically deserted, with a few scattered people, stopped to take a picture or to watch the beauty of the gulf at sunset. We anxiously drove along, hoping we wouldn't he told to get out at some point.
The first house that really caught our eye was an unusual white concrete fortress. We thought this was Mr. king's house and my husband started backing up a little do as not to impose. Then he saw the road continued around the back of the house, so we kept going. Here is what I just found out about the house: it is owned by Joe "The German" Watts, an imprisoned, non-made gangster( he wasn't Italian). Here is the story: quite intriguing

The bummer about this exciting trip was that when my husband got to the beware no trespassing signs, he went no further and we didn't he to see the Stephen King home, but we did get to find out this interesting piece of information on the mob home and would love to know what lies on, within, or under that property...
Here is our video of the trip: enjoy
